The standard response time is seven business days. Urgent rights-holder takedown requests take priority.

How to reach the editor

GitHub issues — the public route

The project repository’s issue tracker is the canonical contact surface while a direct email is being set up. Issue labels do the routing the subject prefixes will do later:

• correction — editorial corrections, source disagreements, attribution arguments. Include the article URL, the contested claim, and the source basis (a museum catalogue page, a named scholar with page reference, a primary-text citation). Material corrections trigger an editorial-note addendum on the article itself.
• image-rights — rights-holder takedown requests, attribution questions, licence challenges. Include the article URL, the contested image (file path or caption identifier), the basis of the claim, and proof of standing where applicable. Reproductions contested in good faith are taken down pending verification, not after. Response time on rights claims is reduced to three business days. The full procedure is on the image-rights page.
• citation or press — re-use questions, interviews on the editorial process, collaboration proposals. Citation under CC BY-SA 4.0 does not require permission; write only for re-uses outside the licence. Sponsored editorial is not accepted; do not pitch.
• general — typo reports, reading recommendations, scholarly disagreements that don’t rise to a formal correction, archival inquiries.

Privacy and GDPR data-subject requests

For requests under GDPR Articles 15–22 (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection): a public GitHub issue is not the appropriate route. A direct, non-public correspondence surface for data-subject requests is being set up; until it is announced here, contact the editor through the GitHub-profile-listed channel for Sam Shephard so the exchange remains non-public.

The 30-day statutory response deadline (GDPR Article 12(3)) is observed once the request reaches the editor. The full privacy notice describes what data the site collects (very little — see the page for the full picture).

What this page is not

This is not a customer-service desk. There is no live chat, no ticketing system, no status page. The site is static and operated by one editor; correspondence is a human reading and writing. The seven-day response time is a soft guarantee, not an SLA.
